***PUB TALK: AUGUST 24, 2000
By Dr. Horst Salzwedel, co-Founder, Mission Level Design GmbH &
Fellow, Silicon Valley World Internet Center
5:00 – 7:00p.m. Pub Talk begins at 6:00p.m
Open to the Public

Dr. Salzwedel will address new methodologies and software for design of complex electronic systems. The complexity of electronic systems are doubling every 1 and 1/2 years. This translates into a factor of 100 in 10 years. This implies that using the same design technology requires twice as many electronic design engineers every 1 and 1/2 years. And…it is not possible to find more engineers, making it a challenge for organizations to attract and retain talent. This bottleneck in electronic design can only be overcome by revolutionary, new design methods and software for electronic design. These issues of critical importance for the electronics design markets will be the focus of Horst Salzwedel’s Pub Talk.

Dr. Horst Salzwedel is co-Founder of Mission Level Design GmbH. Since 1994, Dr. Salzwedel has been a Professor in System Theory at the Technical University of Ilmenau, Germany. His research areas focus on (i) development of methodologies and software for the design of complex systems, and (ii) software system design for mission level design automation, integrating the design flow from mission/operational level to implementation. From 1978-92, he was a Senior Research Engineer as Systems Control Technology, Inc. He has also been a lecturer and consulting professor at Stanford University. Dr. Salzwedel holds a Ph.D. in Aeronautical and Astronautical Sciences from Stanford University and a M.S. in Aero- and Astronautics from the Technical University of Munich. Dr. Salzwedel is a Fellow of the Silicon Valley World Internet Center.

Mission Level Design is a software company which develops revolutionary design software for electronics design.
