SUMMARY: PUB TALKSPECIAL FUND-RAISER PUB FOR THE LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY: THURSDAY, AUGUST 7, 2003
"SMARTCARDS IN HEALTHCARE: IMPROVING QUALITY OF PATIENT CARE AND MEDICAL RESEARCH"

By Mr. Dmitriy M. Kruglyak, Principal, Aquave Group, LLC
See below for more information.

The Center hosted a Special Pub on Thursday, August 7th as a fundraising event to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and its mission to find a cure for blood-related cancers. Over 70 people attended the Pub Talk and Fundraiser. With the community's support, we contributed significantly to the fundraising effort. For those who were not able to attend, the link is still open and you can make an on-line donation at (http://www.leukemia-lymphoma.org). Our Pub Speaker, Mr. Dmitriy Kruglyak, Principal at Aquave Group, discussed the benefits of employing smart cards in the healthcare industry to increase medical efficiency and productivity, reduce medical errors, and provide realtime access to medical records, procedures, and treatment plans.

To view Dmitriy Kruglyak's presentation, visit the Center's Website: Scroll down and click onto "August 7, 2003" to view the program information and presentation link.

FUND-RAISER FOR THE LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY

Also in attendance at the Pub was Dr. Venilde Jeronimo, the Center's former Senior Director of Client Services and a 2003 summer participant with the Society's Team in Training (TNT) (http://www.teamintraining.org), the world's largest endurance sports training program. Venilde has committed to train to run the Maui Marathon on September 21 and raise $5,000 towards cures for leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and myeloma. Venilde is a survivor of Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL), initially diagnosed in 1984 with a relapse in 1988 and a surgery in 1995. Of the 19 years she has dealt with ALL, she's proud to say that she's been in remission for 8 years and 5 months!

For those unable to attend the Pub but who would like to make an online donation, visit: http://www.teamintraining.org/participant/jeronimo-89405. Let's help Venilde reach her goal before the end of August! Remember: all donations are 100% tax deductible and go directly to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU FROM VENILDE JERONIMO

On behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and myself as a Leukemia survivor, thank you to all of you who attended the August 7th Pub and contributed to help raise funds to find a cure for blood-related cancers! With your financial support, I have now raised (since the end of May) $4,002.40 out of my $5,000 goal!! It was very rewarding to see so many of you who attended the Pub support my endeavor to train with Team in Training to run the September 21 Maui Marathon. A special thanks to those of you who shared personal stories about cancer patients and survivors. Together, we are going to find a cure for blood-related cancers!
