PROGRAM

At this Panel, Dave Allison and Don O'Toole will discuss the impact of current and future technology on eBusiness. From Linux to GRID computing, Web services to e-sourcing, IBM Research & Development teams have embraced Internet standards to make a digital, border-free enterprise possible. IBM calls this future marketplace: "Dynamic e-business," and it is part of IBM's perpetually unfinished eBusiness strategy to help customers solve their business problems. In support of "Dynamic e-business," IBM and its partners are providing flexible, innovative and proven infrastructures that are focused on the transitions that organizations face during their eBusiness journey. Research indicates technology is now ready to help enterprises dynamically adapt business processes and associated systems to support changing business strategies and tactics.

Come hear about these developments during the first half of this two-hour Panel. During the second hour, audience participants will have the opportunity to engage in a lively, knowledge exchange with the panelists.

***THINK TANK SESSION: TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2001
"Artificial Intelligence (AI): The Next Step In eBusiness Or Just Another Hype Wave?"
No fee. At the Center.
Invitation-only. 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
See below for possible participation.

CONTENT

This Think Tank Session focuses on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) (and agent technologies as one form of AI) into enterprise-level software, specifically, in the area of Supply Chain Management (SCM). Eighteen to twenty invitation-only participants will have the opportunity to brainstorm with one another as thought leaders and have the opportunity to:

* Acquire an understanding of the potential of AI to add unique features to collaborative software in the area of SCM for the
next 12-18 month market.
* Gather information on future 18-36 month market opportunities and challenges.
* Become familiar with the current and potential players in this space.

* Be seen and heard as a thought leader in group discussions and breakout sessions.
* Network for professional and business development opportunities.

KEY QUESTIONS TO BE ADDRESSED

* How can AI be used to automate or semi-automate SCM processes, like inter-company collaboration, for instance, to address questions regarding increasing responsiveness and information sharing?
* Speed may require that decisions be made locally rather than globally. How can AI help?
* In a cross-company situation, there are security and data sharing concerns. How can AI address these?
* How can AI be applied to automating the procurement process?

FOR FURTHER INFORMATION & POSSIBLE PARTICIPATION

Participation is limited to twenty thought leaders. Those with an interest in participating need to meet the following requirements:

* A technology background in AI and/or agent technologies.
* Able to contribute to a discussion on how artificial intelligence (AI) (and agent technologies) can be applied to enterprise-level software, specifically, in the area of Supply Chain Management (SCM).

Participants are required to be verbal and contribute to knowledge building during the day in large group discussions as well as in small breakout groups. Return participants enjoy the interaction with the other thought leaders and the opportunity to network.

If you meet these qualifications and are interested in *possible* participation, send your name, title, company, email address and short bio to:

***PUB: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2001
"Pattern Recognition in Fundamental Stock Analysis"
By Dr. Robert C. Smithson, President & Chief Executive Officer,
Anava Corporation
Open to the Public. No fee. 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Pub Talk at 6:00 p.m.

How can an independent-minded value investor with a day job find good companies in a market like this? We all know that there are good values out there today and that we should find them before the rest of the market does. The trouble is that it takes a long time to do a good job of fundamental analysis. At the Pub this week, come learn from Dr. Bob Smithson from Anava Corporation about pattern recognition and how to deal with these questions.

The Internet makes the necessary information available to anyone, but while it is easy to find out about a particular company, it is hard to know which companies out of thousands of possibilities you should be looking at. You cannot type in 8,000 different symbols on the NASDAQ web page. Pattern recognition technology, working from examples alone, can allow an investor to find interesting investment candidates in minutes, using fundamental screening techniques. There is no need for the investor to specify particular screening criteria. The methods developed by Anava can provide immediate answers to questions like, "Can you find me some companies that look now like what Cisco looked like two years ago, but in biotech?" The speed of the method allows a fundamental investor to adjust a portfolio to follow changing market conditions with a minimal investment of time and effort. It forms the basis for "Investor's Aide," a new software product from Anava Corporation.

ABOUT ROBERT C. SMITHSON

Robert C. Smithson is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Anava. Dr. Smithson founded the company with two other members of the Lockheed Research Labs to commercialize technology licensed to them by Lockheed. For the first five years, the company was a custom software and consulting company. In the last year, concentration has been on products to aid decision-making for fundamental investors. Prior to Anava, Dr. Smithson worked at Lockeed Martin Missiles & Space in various positions since 1971. He holds a Ph.D. in physics from California Institute of Technology and a B.S. in Physics from the University of Washington.

ABOUT ANAVA CORPORATION

Anava Corporation intends to become the leading supplier of a new class of tools for investment analysis and risk management. Avana applies advanced analysis techniques to give its customers far better performance and ease of use than competing products. Its targeted customers are financial services companies who can supply Anava products as value-added services to end-users. "Net Attitude"

By Mr. John M. Patrick, Vice President, Internet Technology
IBM Corporation

6:00 - 8:00 p.m.: Presentation and Q&A/interactive discussion with audience participants.

The technology exists. So why do so many businesses crash and burn when it comes to launching successful eBusiness strategies? Why do flashy Web sites send customers to a 1-800 number that can be accessed only during "normal" business hours? Why do executives who market toys and games refuse to listen to their own children? According to IBM's Internet guru, Mr. John R. Patrick, it's all about attitude!!

Our inability to harness the full power of the Internet has much less to do with the technology itself than with the cultural and psychological barriers that straitjacket our thinking about it. In his book, "Net Attitude," he reveals the strategies and more important, the mindset, that will allow you and your company to flourish in the age of connectivity. Drawing from a wide range of examples from the worlds of business, technology, politics, education, and popular culture, during the first hour of this program, Mr. Patrick will explore the profound implications of adopting an Internet attitude and how it will transform you and your business. Audience participants will be able to interact with Mr. Patrick during the second hour in a facilitated, knowledge exchange.

Mr. Patrick's book, "Net Attitude," can be pre-ordered through Amazon.com.

ABOUT JOHN M. PATRICK

Mr. John M. Patrick is Vice President of Internet technology at IBM Corporation. As IBM's chief Internet technology officer, he leads the company's efforts for the next generation of the Internet. Mr. Patrick is also closely involved in IBM's aggressive backing of the red-hot Linux movement. However, if you read between the lines of Patrick's official job description -- or have heard him deliver cutting-edge remarks at conferences throughout the world or read one of the many articles he's been featured in -- you'll see that John's unofficial title is Internet visionary. It is one of the reasons why Business 2.0 recently named him as one of the industry's most intriguing minds, and why Network World called him one of the 25 most powerful people in networking.

Mr. Patrick was a founding member and is now the chairman of the Global Internet Project, a founding member of the World Wide Web Consortium at MIT in 1994, a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and a member of the Internet Society and the ACM. He is an advisor to several new Internet companies, including Lou Dobbs' and Sally Ride's Space.com and Mary Furlong's ThirdAge Media. He is also an advisor to IntraLinks and Neoteny, a new incubator in Japan.

While at IBM, Mr. Patrick has created a number of innovative programs including the alphaWorks Web site, which is IBM's on-line research and development laboratory for advanced Internet technology, and IBM's successful "Get Connected" program to expand the use of the Internet both within the company and to serve as a model for other companies. Mr. Patrick joined IBM in 1967 and spent the first half of his career in various sales, marketing and management positions. He was a pioneer and developer of IBM's leasing business at IBM Credit Corporation, today the largest computer leasing company in the world. He was subsequently the chief financial officer of various business units of IBM and was also vice president of operations for IBM's Computer Integrated Manufacturing Business. In 1992, Mr. Patrick became vice president of marketing for Personal Systems and was responsible for creating the successful ThinkPad brand. He earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University and an M.S. in Management from the University of South Florida. He also has a law degree (LL.B.) from LaSalle University, which he earned during his military service. An individual who leads by example, you can access further information about Mr. Patrick and his activities through his innovative personal web site: http://www.ibm.com/patrick.
