A distinguished lists of panelists will discuss the transactional infrastructure necessary to complement the communications infrastructure that will accelerate the adoption and diffusion of P2P technology for enterprise use. During the second half of the evening, a facilitated, interactive discussion will take place with audience participants engaged in a knowledge exchange with the panelists.

Those in attendance will have the opportunity to network prior to and after the Panel Discussion in a business-casual environment.

CONTENT & ISSUES

The discussion today on P2P is mostly centered on understanding the technology underpinning of the network, specifically, the communicability and connectivity of P2P networks. This is obviously an important endeavor. However, an equally important and critical endeavor is to understand the business use of P2P technology.

Recently Oculus CO, a P2P start-up in Boston, announced that Ford Motor Company decided to use Oculus' technology to design and produce more fuel-efficient automobiles. The Oculus solution allows Ford design teams to evaluate quickly and change design options to find the best fuel economy solution. Groove Networks announced its first deal with the sale of 10,000 licenses to drug giant GlaxoSmithKline Plc to facilitate dynamic collaboration between geographically dispersed workgroups scientists and others. Examples such as these-where P2P solved a critical business need-are the focus of this Interactive Panel Discussion.

Transactional infrastructure issues to be discussed:

* What are the key intra-enterprise and inter-enterprise applications that can be developed to enable a more widespread business use of the technology?
* Are there boundary conditions (processes, functionalities, security) that limit the scale and scope of its adoption and use by enterprises?
* What kinds of business models are necessary for P2P to enter into mainstream intra-enterprise and inter-enterprise transactions?
* Will there be an emergence of middleware applications that can integrate proprietary P2P networks, P2P and enterprise applications, as well as P2P and front-end commerce applications?
* Are P2P marketplaces going to replace their brethren Web-based marketplaces? If so, what will motivate price makers and price takers to participate in P2P marketplaces to create sustainable pools of liquidity?
* What role will transparency play in the business use of technology? Are there different types and appropriate levels of transparency that will manifest and perhaps be necessary in a P2P context to drive the business use of the technology?
* Are there any innovations - specifically financial derivatives--that can be introduced in a P2P setting?
* What are the business risks and opportunities that are likely to unfold as the use of this technology becomes more pervasive?
* Will there be a need for decision support and optimization engines as transactions migrate to P2P networks?
* Where is the impact of P2P (industry, functions, etc.) most likely to be recognized in the near future?

REGISTRATION

Web registration is available until June 27 at the following:
