Rachel Parikh has been with SAP since 1993, first at SAP's headquarters in Walldorf, Germany, and since 1996 in the USA. Based at SAP Labs in Palo Alto, she is currently working as the Solution Manager for emerging markets, defining and developing an eBusiness solution for Internet companies and technology start-ups. In the past, Ms. Parikh has worked as the Product Manager for the mySAP High Tech industry business unit as well as in consulting and training.

Dr. Wagner has served as Professor and Chair of the Educational Technology Program at the University of Northern Colorado and Director of the Western Institute for Distance Education. Willy Chiu will share experiences in building the world's highest volume eBusiness websites for sporting events, eCommerce, on-line trading and on-line banking. Impact on performance from bursty web traffic patterns as well as advanced technologies for multi-tier architectures, caching and web page designs will be described. Actual website data and examples will be used, including sporting sites like the Olympics. The best practices & lessons learned were documented by IBM in a series of white papers and are made available to the industry.

This presentation is aimed at business development and technical leaders who have, or who anticipate, intense user demand, whether it is Websites, such as the Olympics, Charles Schwab & Co., and Victoria's Secrets or sites that have high quality-of-service end-user expectations.

THE EXPERT

Willy Chiu is currently Vice President, High Volume Web Sites, for IBM's Software Group, and is located at the IBM Center for Java Technology, Cupertino, California. In this position, Dr. Chiu has created a focal point organization for High Volume Web Site technologies, including capabilities for customer engagements, prototyping and performance evaluation of web sites, and development of specialized tools for analyzing web site performance. Dr. Chiu has been with IBM for over 25 years, and has held many technical and management positions. He joined IBM at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center at Yorktown Heights, New York, in 1974.
