DESCRIPTION
Your company's legacy system may have served you well, however,
it is time to move on. But, what is the state of your legacy system?
Is it well known, clearly documented, supported by knowledgeable
people, and functioning perfectly within your business? The answer
to these questions is usually no. Speaking of moving on, where did
all the knowledge embodied in the development and maintenance staffs
go? The documentation that existed in the beginning is most likely
out of date; was it inadequate from the start? Are there clear well-documented
interfaces to data and process invocation? And, is that changing
also? Is the data in a single well-structured database, or is it
scattered across many, and even worst, across many database technologies?
Is there a clear view of the future, one that can direct your development?
Is the automation that currently exists only in the minds of the
managers really a frantic manual exercise by dedicated members of
the staff? Have you considered how your company is going to test?
These and other serious questions will be the subject of the Challenge-The-Experts
Panel. Come and interact with -- and challenge -- the people who
have suffered and learned!
