  "LIGHTING UP A START-UP"

The presentation will focus on Internet Inventions
( http://www.internetinventions.com) of Palo Alto and how it helps develop start-up companies.

 About Internet Inventions

Internet Inventions is a unique resource of out-of-the-box thinkers and entrepreneurs

in Silicon Valley. The current projects include

- DomainWorld.com for fast and easy registration of MU domains

- NetAttach (www.netattach.com) developing the first and very cost-effective
NetArrays gigabit data appliance scalable from 54 GBytes to 4.6 TBytes, and

- NETmachines (www.netmachines.net) producing the space-saving one U high
RedRak Linux server for the Internet.

The four founders of Internet Inventions (Bob Evans, Rod Beckwith, Les Laky,  and Bob Marzewski) are all high-technology and Internet veterans, having played  founding roles in several start-ups including ISP Channel.

About Les Laky

Les Laky holds the position of VP of Sales of Internet Inventions. He is a high-tech  visionary, strategist and implementer with over 30-years of experience in a wide range of businesses from start-ups (like MediaCity) to multi-nationals (e.g., 16 years with Nortel). Les is much sought after for his knowledge of Internet services, infrastructure technologies and telecommunication applications. In fact, in consultation with Les, the Silicon Valley World Internet Center switched  to a cable modem for its high speed Internet access. Les has been a pioneer in this technology, working first with the visionary company First PacificNetworks in the early 90s to offer a combined telecommunications and energy management system on hybrid fiber/coax cable then with the ISP Channel helping it become the third largest turnkey cable modem provider in the U.S.

**MINI-SUMMARY OF THINK TANK SESSION ON OCT.13, 1999 ON WIRELESS TECHNOLOGIES

*************************************************************

THE CONVERGENCE OF DATA AND MOBILITY

The wireless space is rapidly expanding. In this Think Thank Session (TTS) we explored data and mobility, the supporting technologies, their deployment and usage. In particular we sought to identify future business opportunities to fill gaps in the quest for users to communicate and create content while crossing boundaries in time, place and function.

 KEY FINDINGS

 * Rapid changes in technology and the drive to capture customers are resulting in a high level of investment and partnering.

* Infrastructure and deployment strategies are proliferating alongside high-risk business models.

 * The customer is faced with competing solutions and standards with no clear winners. The satisfaction level with mobile wireless services is low, allowing growth opportunities for companies able to provide a better solution.

 * The ultimate mobile wireless solution being "no device" resting upon a public infrastructure providing access to any data, anywhere, anytime.

* Best quote: " Freedom with a leash"

* Best business idea: "Co-opetition.com"

* What type of incentives corporations must provide technical training infrastructures  and fund workforce and student education programs to further the market for their products and services?

* Which technology companies are taking the lead in enlightened self-interest
programs abroad and the benefits these companies are realizing from their
efforts?
