IS YOUR MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR LEGACY SYSTEM UP TO
PAR FOR THE NEW ECONOMY?
Challenge-the-Experts Panel at the Silicon
Valley World Internet Center Investigates the Integration and Challenges
of
Legacy Systems.
Palo Alto, CA—October 26, 2000 -- The Silicon Valley World
Internet Center (http://www.worldinternetcenter.com)
hosts a "Challenge-the-Experts" Panel on MONDAY, OCTOBER 30 on the
issues and challenges of legacy systems, featuring experts Mark
Cathcart, Technology Strategist, Corporate Technology Marketing,
IBM Corporation and Ray Paquette, Chief Technology Officer, Coopetition,
Inc. & Ensemble Systems. Colin Wiel, Co-Founder and Chairman of
Milo, will moderate the Panel and the interactive discussion with
the audience participants.
Your company's legacy system has served you well.
However, it is time to move on. But, what is the state of your legacy
system? If it is well known, clearly documented, supported by knowledgeable
people, and functioning perfectly within your business, you want
to integrate it into productive functions within your company. How
does an organization go about doing this? What are the issues and
challenges?
Human capital has also become an issue. In many,
but not all cases, large enterprise organizations have moved to
the New Economy using new skills, new tools, and new people. In
the first phase of web applications this development was useful
-- even beneficial. It allowed organizations to quickly build local
web logic. However, in many organizations the growth of separate
web developers has been divisive, caused problems, and not made
the most of the intellectual capital already available in back-end
systems and programmers.
These and other issues will be discussed. Come
and interact with -- and challenge -- the people who have suffered
and learned! The programs at the Center are built upon an interactive
knowledge exchange between the panelists and the audience participants.
This Panel will take place at the Center. There's
no fee to attend and is open to the public. Registration not necessary
but suggested.
