PANEL EXAMINES THE NEW WORLD
OF CLINICAL TRIALS JUNE 18 AT THE
SILICON VALLEY WORLD INTERNET CENTER
PALO ALTO, CA, June 14, 2002 On Tuesday,
June 18, 2002, the Silicon Valley World Internet Center (http://www.worldinternetcenter.com)
will convene a panel to discuss how factors such as the rapid pace
of new drug development, the plethora of biotech companies in need
of getting drugs to the market and the advent of the Internet and
Web are impacting the nature of clinical trials in the 21st Century.
The program will take place at the Centers facilities
in Palo Alto from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. For the first hour panel
members will put their stake in the ground for discussion of how
the digitization of information and the Web can be used to process
and manage clinical trials; what mediating technology and non-technology
factors are needed for clinical trials to incorporate Internet-
and Web-based solutions; what challenges biotech companies face
in structuring and managing clinical trials; what solutions, both
Internet- and Web-based, exist to meet these challenges; and, finally
what critical technology solutions are still needed to enhance the
clinical trial process.
The panel includes Dr. Budd C. Colby, principal of
Colby Biomedical Consultants; Dr. Nandini Tandon, Partner, Life
Sciences, RBC Capital Partners, Inc.; and Mr. Thomas Tremblay, Director
of Clinical Operations, POINT Biomedical Corporation. Dr. Naomi
Fried, General Manager and Vice President for Business Development,
