Press Release
CABLE
& WIRELESS RECEIVES TOP HONORS FOR ENTERPRISE HOSTING MARKET
LEADERSHIP
San Jose,
Calif. May 1, 2002 Frost & Sullivan today
announced Cable & Wireless (NYSE: CWP) is the recipient of its
prestigious 2002 Market Engineering Leadership award.
In a new Frost
& Sullivan market analysis, entitled U.S. Web Hosting
Report (A133-79), Cable & Wireless was identified as the
number one market leader, accounting for 26 percent of the total
revenues in the large-enterprise hosting sector.
Through its
astute acquisition strategy, Cable & Wireless has been able
to capitalize on affordable hosting and managed service assets,
combining the strengths of Digital Island and Exodus Communications
into a new business branded Exodus, a Cable & Wireless Service,
in North America and Cable & Wireless in the rest of the world.
Backed by the global reach and financial strength of Cable &
Wireless, along with a full spectrum of Internet services with a
Tier 1 network, the new company has already emerged as a powerful
market leader.
Frost &
Sullivan further predicts that Cable & Wireless will effectively
manage the integration process and notes that the company is already
on track with the completion of its initial integration milestones.
Since the beginning of April, when the integration process officially
began for the Exodus service, the senior management team and its
members respective roles have been identified; a thorough
product rationalization process has been implemented; and the annual
operating plan and metrics for fiscal year 2003 have been defined.
Cable
& Wireless strategic acquisitions over the past year have
provided the company with a top notch hosting infrastructure without
the enormous debt load associated with the infrastructure buildouts
of the 1990s, said Frost & Sullivan industry analyst,
Jarad Carleton. That situation bodes well for the future profit
potential of Exodus.
Were
very pleased to be recognized by Frost & Sullivan for our collective
strength as a market leader in Internet hosting services. We are
able to offer customers greater stability and global reach, an enhanced
quality of service and a broader spectrum of Internet services,
stated Bill Austin, CEO of Exodus, a Cable & Wireless Service.
