FUJITSU JOINS SILICON VALLEY WORLD INTERNET CENTER
AS EXECUTIVE SPONSOR
Japanese computer giant cultivating American
partnerships through the Center
October 5, 2000, Palo Alto, Calif. -- The Silicon Valley
World Internet Center today announced that Fujitsu, one of the largest
IT vendors in Japan, is joining the Center as an Executive Sponsor.
As part of a strategy for developing American partnerships
that will strengthen their hold on their Japanese markets, Fujitsu
has chosen to take advantage of the networking and marketing opportunities,
as well as the knowledge exchange, available through the Center.
"At the dawn of the 21 century, the Internet
is establishing itself as a new social infrastructure," said Masaaki
Isomura, executive director for strategic planning at Fujitsu Software
Corporation. "Fujitsu is committed to aggressively introducing products
and services targeted to that new infrastructure. We can connect
a wide variety of people, as well as machines and equipment, by
exploiting our computer and networking technologies."
Fujitsu has several subsidiaries currently in Silicon
Valley, including Amdahl Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary
of Fujitsu Limited; Fujitsu Laboratory of America; Fujitsu Software
Corporation; and Fujitsu Systems Business of America.
"We are honored," said Isomura, "to be collaborating
with the Center’s Executive Sponsors, advancing the Internet Economy.
The Center will give us a great opportunity to share views with
the community's thought-leaders who are enthusiastically driving
the innovation of the Internet."
The executive level sponsorship at the Center allows
Fujitsu to participate with other Silicon Valley industry leaders
in community development programs, partnership opportunities and
customized "Think Tank Sessions", to solicit and exchange
new ideas. As an executive sponsor, Fujitsu will showcase its technology
and market innovations, hold panel discussions with sponsors and
other internet thought-leaders, and participate in customer showcases
and special events. Fujitsu will also be a regular participant at
the Center’s weekly informal "Pubs".
